R.I.S.C. Takers was unofficially founded in 2007 when a group of indoor soccer players decided to participate in the futsal competition organized by the St. Maarten Futsal Association (SMFA). In 2012 a few members of R.I.S.C. Takers have started training sessions in the Raoul Illidge Sports Complex stadium for children from 5 through 13 years old. It appeared that the interest in soccer amongst children is immensely resulting in 10 enthusiastic trainers and approximately 60 youth member in only 3 months.
Sport is fundamental to the development of children. Through participation in sport, young people learn about the importance of key values such as honesty, teamwork, fair play, respect for themselves and others, and adherence to rules. The commitment to the youth division of a significant part of the adult members of the R.I.S.C. Takers is not only the result of the understanding of the importance of participation in sport, but also because of the need of well-organized sport associations for children in St. Maarten.
The members of R.I.S.C. Takers are of the opinion that the formalization of an association was necessary for a stable and well organized association as mentioned above, especially for its youth division. Therefore, RISC Takers was established through a notarial instrument as "R.I.S.C. Takers Football Club".
The main goal of R.I.S.C. Takers FC is to develop soccer on St. Martin in all its appearances. In season 2020/2021 R.I.S.C. Takers FC participated with 10 youth teams in the competition organized by the Saint Martin Football Association. In addition, part of the senior R.I.S.C. Takers only play on a friendly basis every Thursday.
